About F&T
Feathers & Tails opened in 2023 after finding 38 westgate, a beautiful listed building with history and character, just like us!
We are more than just a shop! We educate on behaviour, diet and correct husbandry, supporting future, new and old owners. We have a non profit parrot & reptile rescue, sanctuary onsite and offer a re-homing service.
F&T is run and owned by Cassy & Lily, two friends! Between us we have kept exotic animals for 20+ years, additionally we have both studied and worked in the animal industry, including Veterinary practices, pet trade, parrot and reptile rescues.
We started this journey so we can do things right! We are for the animals, first and foremost, they will always be our first priority. We pride ourselves on staying up-to-date on scientific research, the community keepers, reports produced and working with other reputable shops and rescues.
F&T is spread over 3 floors! Our ground floor is small and sweet, selling high quality dog & cat products! Here you will find our popular natural dog treat snack bar!
Head up onto the 1st floor and you will find our bird and reptile dry stock and livestock! Selling everything you need for your feathered or scaly friend.
Our 2nd floor is divided into multiple rooms, which is where you will find our parrot hotel boarding, rescue and isolation room which are tucked away from public view!.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to set a new standard on how animals are being sold as pets and give out the correct husbandry, diet and care information. We are huge on behaviour and diet requirements and will educate you on all aspects of care to ensure the very best care given to your new or current bird or reptile.
We have many great reptile reputable shops around, such a Peculiar Pets and Snakes n Adders, as well as having Responsible Reptile Keeping. So as much as we push correct reptile keeping and educate the public, we do have these amazing shops also fighting and promoting the correct care and husbandry for reptiles, which is why we shout more about birds. Sadly, not many places promote good welfare care for birds or the reality of keeping such complex, intelligent animals. Which is why this is our main mission.
We are very honest with the reality of bird keeping. As parrot owners ourselves, we know how enjoyable having these wonderful birds in our lives can be, but a lot does have to change in the way many other shops and breeders are keeping, selling and providing poor education and information to bird owners. Bringing a bird into your home is a lifestyle change and not as simple as just buying a novelty pet that can talk. We fight to give birds a better life whilst living alongside us.
Just like the reptile industry, we still have amazing people in the bird industry promoting the right care for birds in, such as breeder Golden Wings Aviaries, Charlies Budgie Rescue and behaviourist best behaved birds. We also have Parrot Awareness Week fighting for these amazing animals.
