Our hand reared and tame birds are raised in a loving home environment, socialised and used to common household noises. They are comfortable with hands and people, learn how to ”step-up” and some learn re-call too!
We sell parent raised, untame birds too! ones that are left in the nest with their parents. Once weaned and fledged they will be ready to find a new home. They will be a good age to potentially tame, given the correct time and effort put in.
OUR BIRDS:
- Weaned onto a diverse diet: CHOP (fresh veggies and fruit), sprouted seeds, soaked seeds, flower/herb dry mixes and TOPS pellets with some Tidymix dry seeds.
- Have access to an Avian UV
- Fully flighted, we do not clip our birds wings or agree with clipping.
- Healthy and disease/virus tested negative: Our breeding pairs are tested for Psittacine Beak and Feather disease & Avian polyomavirus. We also carry out random tests on chicks as standard practice.
- Closed leg ring for identity
- Come with a personal Hatch Certificate, full care pack and vouchers.

Bird mutations/colours will depend on availability.
We always advise to call ahead to avoid disappointment and please note, no animal sales will take place within the last hour before closing.

Sales policy
- You must understand that welcoming a bird into your home is a lifestyle change and is a big commitment.
- You must be open to having an in depth chat about bird care, diet and behaviour.
- You must agree to alter your home to ensure it is bird safe, be able to offer a bird enough daily social time and ensure a single bird is not kept alone for long periods during the day on a regular basis. (If you are unsure please speak to us to avoid a refusal of sale)
- You agree to purchase the same food that the bird is currently on.
- You will be agreeing to follow our advice on care, diet, daily free fly time out of the cage, socialising, behaviour management, access to avian UV, etc! to prevent any health issues and unnecessary stress.
- Agreeing to meet our minimum cage size standards and provide safe Avian UV. (will be discussed in-store)
- You will be agreeing, that in the unfortunate circumstance you believe the sale was a mistake or you have a change in circumstances and can no longer give the bird the care he/she needs then the bird MUST be returned back to Feathers & Tails LTD and not sold on / rehomed elsewhere.
- You agree to update us on your progress to ensure the bird is doing well. Feathers & Tails LTD have the right to get in-touch with you for an update.
- Must be over 18 years to buy a bird from us, please bring ID.
- ID will be required when signing paperwork.
PHOTO PROOF NEEDED FOR A BIRD SALE:
If not buying the cage, UV, toys, perches and food, etc from us in store and purchasing elsewhere you will need to show photos as proof of a correct setup for the bird. We will NOT allow a bird to leave us without approving the setup.
Photos needed:
- The cage in your house, along with showing the measurements. You may be asked to provide the manufacture/brand name of the cage to ensure the cage is made with safe metals.
- Photo proof of an Avian safe UVA/UVB light designed for birds. Please note, LED lights are not adequate and will not be accepted, or any brands we deem unsafe.
- Toys and different sized perches.
- Food
If the above condition isn’t met, we have the right to refuse sale or release of the animal until it is met. Any deposit put down will be lost if you decide not to comply which results in a loss of sale.
*PLEASE NOTE, we do not allow animal sales within the last hour of closing!*
