• You must understand that welcoming a bird into your home is a lifestyle change and is a big commitment.
• You must be open to having an in depth chat about bird care, diet and behaviour.
• You must agree to alter your home to ensure it is bird safe, be able to offer a bird enough daily social time and ensure a single bird is not kept alone for long periods during the day on a regular basis. (If you are unsure please speak to us to avoid a refusal of sale) 
• You agree to purchase the same food that the bird is currently on.
• You will be agreeing to follow our advice on care, diet, daily free fly time out of the cage, socialising, behaviour management, access to avian UV, etc! to prevent any health issues and unnecessary stress. 
• Agreeing to meet our minimum cage size standards and provide safe Avian UV. (will be discussed in-store)
• You will be agreeing, that in the unfortunate circumstance you believe the sale was a mistake or you have a change in circumstances and can no longer give the bird the care he/she needs then the bird MUST be returned back to Feathers & Tails LTD and not sold on / rehomed elsewhere. 
• You agree to update us on your progress to ensure the bird is doing well. Feathers & Tails LTD have the right to get in-touch with you for an update. 
• Must be over 18 years to buy a bird from us, please bring ID.
• ID will be required when signing paperwork. 

PHOTO PROOF NEEDED:

If you are not buying from us in store, we will need to approve the birds setup to ensure it is safe. 

• The cage and manufacture brand along with measurements.
• Photos of the cage once built up with the UV, toys and perches in place. Tapemeasure placed in front of the cage may be required. 
• Brand of the Avian UVA/UVB light. LED lights are not adequate and will not be accepted.

Please note!!! We will only accept avian lights that have been extensively studied and are retail approved. Avian veterinarians often warn that unverified or improperly balanced UV lamps can lack UVC-filtering crystal glass or deliver incorrect, unsafe outputs.

Online-only marketed pet accessories or imported brands rely on manufacturer self-certification which is why we do not accept them. 
Please ensure toys, perches, cage and UV meet retail UK standards too. 

If the above condition isn’t met, we have the right to refuse sale / adoption or release of the animal until it is met. Any deposit put down will be lost if you decide not to comply which results in a loss of sale/adoption.

Please note: no adoptions will take place within the last hour of our closing times. This is to ensure enough time to finalise the adoption and ensure a stress free experience for the bird.
